Excited to Serve

By Laura Dorman

WE MADE IT!! After about 32 hours in the air and in airports we made it safe and sound. Everything with travel went smoothly, with no troubles at all. On our layover in Brussels we had a little devotion time; during that we all agreed that there was a sense of peace over our team…no anxieties…excitement without worry. Excitement for what God will do. Excitement for what we’ll experience. Excitement for loving on and serving people. Excitement for how this will change our lives. We’re praying for a lasting impact for us and the Rwandans.

We’re nailing down the exact details for each day, but it’s looking like Monday will be at the Genocide memorial and meeting people at the New Mercies Ministries site. Tuesday and Thursday will be for service projects (including the house projects around little Eric’s house — Karen Oglesby got connected with his family on a prior trip. They lived in a house that was falling apart and was exposed to the elements. Our team was able to unite with City Hill out of Eden Prairie to purchase them a house. We will be fixing up that house). Wednesday and Friday will be vacation Bible school, playing with the kids, and teaching music/worship songs with the kids. Saturday will be an “explore a bit of Rwanda day,” and Sunday will be full of church and connecting with different families here. Monday 5/30/16 we’ll do something service oriented in the morning then head back to the US that afternoon.

All in all, the trip will go quick, but again we’re believing for some great things and some real, lasting breakthrough. A huge thank you again to all who made this trip possible and for those that are praying for us while we’re gone.
